Galle electoral district – Postal Votes

SLPP leads with a total of 27,682 votes (72.70%) while the SJB is second with 5,144 (13.51%).

In the meantime, the JJB is third with 3,135 (8.23%) and the UNP is fourth with 1,507 (3.96%).


Jaffna polling division

 The election results of Jaffna polling division in Jaffna electoral district have been released.

The ITAK has topped the list with 7,524 votes while the EPDP came in second with 5,542 votes.

In the meantime the AITC has placed the third with 4.642 votes.


Kayts polling division

The results for the Kayts polling division in the Jaffna District of the 2020 General Election have been released.

According to the results, the Eelam People’s Democratic Party (EPDP) has received the highest number of votes 6,369 (41.6%).

Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kadchi (ITAK) is second with 4,412 (28.62%) while Ahila Ilankai Thamil Congress (AITC) has obtained 1,376 (8.99%) to place third in the polling division.

The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) is fourth with 1,077 votes (7.03%).


Balapitiya polling division

The 2020 General Election results of the Balapitiya polling division in the Galle District have been released by the Election Commission.

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) is leading with 25,850 (73.05%) while Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) is second with 6,105 (17.25%).

Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) is third with 1,235 votes (3.49%) while the United National Party (UNP) is fourth with 1,224 votes (3.46%).

Our Power of People Party (OPPP) is in fifth place with 378 (1.07%).


Devinuwara polling division

The 2020 General Election results of the Devinuwara polling division in the Matara District have been released by the Election Commission.

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) is leading with 40,143 while Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) is second with 9,009.

Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) is third with 4,196 votes while the United National Party (UNP) is fourth with 517 votes.


Ambalangoda polling division

 The 2020 General Election results for the Ambalangoda polling division of the Galle District has been released with the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) claiming top spot.

SLPP has polled 39,142 votes to come in first while the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) is second with 8,202 votes.

Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) is in third place with 2,321 votes while the United National Party (UNP) has managed to obtain 1,242 votes.


Galle polling division results

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has won the Galle polling division in Galle District.

Accordingly, SLPP has obtained 27,535 votes (49.11%) while Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) obtained 18,706 (33.36).

Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) has obtained 4,380 votes (7.81%).

Our Power of People Party (OPPP) has garnered 772 votes (1.38%).


Galle polling division results

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has won the Galle polling division in Galle District.

Accordingly, SLPP has obtained 27,535 votes (49.11%) while Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) obtained 18,706 (33.36).

Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) has obtained 4,380 votes (7.81%).

Our Power of People Party (OPPP) has garnered 772 votes (1.38%).


Habaraduwa polling division

The results of General Election 2020 for Habaraduwa polling division in the Galle District has been released a short while ago.

With 42,497 votes (75.91%) Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has won the polling division.

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has obtained 8,628 votes (15.41%) while Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) has gained 2,349 votes (4.20%).

The United National Party (UNP) has been able obtain only 1,332 votes (2.38%) from the division.


Matara postal votes with over 74%

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has led the electoral division with 20,275 (74.30%).

In the meantime, Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) is in the second with 3,149 votes (11.54%).

With 3,078 votes (11.28%), the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has come in the third place, while the United National Party (UNP) followed with 536 votes (1.96%).


SLPP wins Ratgama polling division

 The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has obtained the highest number of votes in the Ratgama polling division of the Galle District.

The SLPP has polled 38,904 votes, which is 74.14% of the total votes, while the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has obtained 8,596 votes (16.38%).

Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) has received 1,993 votes (3.80%) and the United National Party (UNP) has got 1,644 votes (3.13%).

Our Power of People Party (OPPP) is fifth with 469 votes (0.89%).


Deniyaya polling division results

 The results for the Deniyaya polling division in the Matara District of the 2020 General Election have been released.

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has won with 51,681 votes (72.66%) while Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has come in second with 11,619 votes (16.34%).

Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) has obtained 4,332 (6.09%) votes.

Meanwhile, United National Party (UNP) has come in at the fourth place with 1,783 (2.51%) votes.


Hakmana polling division

Results of Hakmana polling division in Matara electoral district have been released by the Election Commission.

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) is in the lead with 52,245 (78.04%).

In the meantime, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has placed the second with 8,701 votes (13%).

With 3,777 votes (5.64%), the Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) has come in the third place, while the United National Party (UNP) followed with 936 votes (1.40%).


Karandeniya polling division in the Galle District 

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has claimed the first spot with 39,857 votes (76.61%) while the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) is second with 7,511 votes (14.44%).

Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) is in third with 1,881 (3.62%) and the United National Party (UNP) has obtained 1,220 votes (2.36%).

Our Power of People Party (OPPP) has received 805 votes (1.55%).


Bentara-Elpitiya polling division of Galle electoral district

Accordingly, Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) is in the first 45,117 votes (73.24%).

Meanwhile, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) followed with 10,464 votes (16.99%).

Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) is in the third with 2,753 votes (4.47%) while the United National Party (UNP), with 1,353 votes (2.20%) came in the fourth place.


Matara District 

Accordingly, SLPP has obtained 43,260 votes (68.18%) and Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has come in second place with 10,410 votes (16.41%).

Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) has gained 7,730 (12.18%), coming in at the third place of the polling division.

United National Party (UNP) has come in fourth place with 1,125 (1.77%) votes.


Hiniduma polling division of Galle electoral district

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) leads with 50,395 votes (68.91%).

Meanwhile, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) followed with 16,587 votes (22.68%).

Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) is in the third with 2,524 votes (3.45%) while the United National Party (UNP), with 2,118 votes (2.90%) came in the fourth place.


Kamburupitiya polling division results

 The results of the Kamburupitiya polling division of the Matara District has been released, a short while ago.

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has polled 45,783 votes (78.17%) to claim first place while Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) is second with 7,512 votes (12.83%).

Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) has obtained 3,749 votes (6.40%) and the United National Party (UNP) is fourth with 614 votes (1.05%).

Independent Group 07 has obtained 267 votes (0.46%).


Baddegama polling division in Galle District with over 70% of votes

Accordingly, SLPP has obtained 47,262 votes (70.99%) for the division.

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has obtained 13,257 (19.90%) while Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) has gained 2,842 votes (4.27%).

United National Party (UNP) has garnered only 1,574 votes (2.36%).


 Weligama polling division of Matara electoral district

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has won this polling division with 47,663 votes (70.99%).

Meanwhile, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has secured 12,359 votes (18.41%), placing the second.

Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) is in the third with 4,668 votes (6.95%) while the United National Party (UNP), with 1,263 (1.88%) came in the fourth place.


Matara-Akuressa polling division of Galle electoral district

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) leads the division with 51,167 votes (74.28%).

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has come in second with 10,052 votes (14.59%) while Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) has come in the third place with 5,535 votes (8.04%).

United National Party (UNP) has obtained only 857 votes (1.24%).


Mullaitivu polling division 

Illankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK) has obtained the highest number of votes with 22, 492 (44.16%).

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) is second with 8,307 votes (16.31%) and the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) is third with 6,087 (11.95%).

Eelam People’s Democratic Party (EPDP) has polled 3,694 votes (7.25%) and the Ahila Ilankai Thamil Congress (AITC) is fifth with 2,472 (4.85%).


Monaragala District – Postal Votes

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) leads the postal votes of the district with 15,440 (72.27%).

Meanwhile, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has obtained 3,849 votes (18.02%) to come in second place while Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) has gained 1,487 (6.96%).

The United National Party (UNP) has come in the fourth place with 448 (2.10%) votes.

Frontline Socialist Party (FSP) has obtained 28 postal votes (0.13%) from the division.


Monaragala polling division 

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has won the division with 58,205 (73.04%) votes while Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) obtained 16,753 (21.02%) votes to come in second.

Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) has come in third with 2,783 (3.49%) votes and United National Party (UNP) has gained 867 votes (1.09%).


Welimada polling division of Matara electoral district.

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has secured the win in this polling division with 33,532 votes (60.19%).

Meanwhile, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has obtained 18,536 votes (33.27%), placing the second.

Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) is in the third with 1,962 votes (3.52%) while the United National Party (UNP) came in the fourth place with 621 (1.11%).


 Vanni District postal vote results

Vanni District have been released by the Election Commission.

Illankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK) has won the district’s postal vote with 4,308 (36.06%) while Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has come in second with 2,711 (23.19%) votes.

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has obtained 1,811 postal votes (15.16%) from the area to come in third place.

Thamil Makkal Thesiya Kuttani (TMTK) came in fourth with 736 votes (6.16%) while Eelam People’s Democratic Party (EPDP) gained 602 votes (5.04%).


Seruvila polling division of Trincomalee electoral district.

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has secured the win in this polling division with 34,035 votes (61.21%).

Meanwhile, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has obtained 13,117 votes (23.59%), placing the second.

Illankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK) is in the third with 4,723votes (8.49%) while the Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) came in the fourth place with 992 (1.78%).

The United National Party (UNP) managed to secure only 581 votes (1.04%)


Badulla polling division of the Badulla District.

SLPP wins the polling division with 24,942 votes (62.97%) while the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) received 19,454 votes (26.39%).

Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) has obtained 1,956 votes (4.94%) and the Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) has gained 612 votes (1.55%).

The United National Party (UNP) is in fifth place with 555 votes (1.48%).


Rambukkana polling division of the Kegalle District.

The Rajapaksa-led party has garnered a total of 31,088 votes (68.72%) from the division.

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has come in second with 10,008 (22.12%) votes while Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) came third with 1,716 (3.79%) votes.

The United National Party (UNP) has gained 1,214 (2.68%) votes.

Our Power of People Party (OPPP) has obtained 818 (1.81%) votes in the Rambukkana polling division.


 Matara electoral districts were released a short while ago, with Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) in the lead.

Thereby, the SLPP has received 352,217 votes with a percentage of 73.63%.

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) followed with 72,740 votes (15.21%), placing the second.

Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) is in the third with 37,136 votes (7.76%) while the United National Party (UNP) managed obtained only 7,631 votes (1.60%).

SLPP has won 6 seats in the Matara electoral district while the SJB managed to secure 01. However, the UNP failed to secure any.


 Ratnapura District with the Eheliyagoda polling division.

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) leads the division with 49,533 (70.55%) votes while Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has come in second place with 15,471 (22.04%) votes.

United National Party (UNP) has come in at the third place of the division with 1,948 votes (2.77%).

Meanwhile, Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) has obtained 1,700 (2.42%).


Mutur polling division of the Trincomalee District at the 2020 General Election.

The SJB has obtained 51,330 votes (67.16%) while the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) is second with 11,085 votes (14.50%).

Illankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK) is in third place with 9,502 votes (12.43%) and the Ahila Ilankai Thamil Congress (AITC) is fourth with 1,073 votes (1.40%).

Eelam People’s Democratic Party (EPDP) is in fifth place with 875 votes (1.14%).


Anuradhapura West polling division in the Anuradhapura District have been released.

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has claimed victory in the polling division with 52,075 votes (69.72%).

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) is second with 17,128 votes (22.93%) and the Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) is third with 3,074 votes (4.12%).

The United National Party (UNP) is in fourth place with 915 votes (1.23%).


 Medawachchiya polling division in Anuradhapura.The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) secured this polling division with 40,800 votes with a percentage of 67.83%.

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) followed with 15,011 votes (24.96%), placing the second.

Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) is in the third with 2,529 votes (4.20%) while the United National Party (UNP) managed to obtain 617 votes (1.03%).


Anuradhapura-East polling division in Anuradhapura

The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) secured this polling division with 47,465 votes with a percentage of 69.16%.

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) followed with 13,401 votes (19.53%), placing the second.

Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) is in the third with 5,139 votes (7.49%) while the United National Party (UNP) managed to obtain 1,305 votes (1.90%).


The results of the postal voting in the Anuradhapura District 

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) leads the postal votes of the district with 36,226 (70.17%).

Meanwhile, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has obtained 9,184 votes (17.79%) to come in second place while Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) has gained 3,768 (7.30%).

The United National Party (UNP) has come in the fourth place with 1,636 (3.17%) votes.

Our Power of People Party (OPPP) has obtained 161 postal votes (0.31%) from the division.


Haputale polling division in Badulla electoral district.

The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) secured this polling division with 27,367 votes with a percentage of 57%.

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) followed with 17,027 votes (35.46%), placing the second.

Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) is in the third with 1,235 votes (2.57%) while the United National Party (UNP) managed to obtain 724 votes (1.51%).


Beliatta polling division of the Hambantota District.

The Rajapaksa-led party has garnered a total of 43,821 votes (76.08%) from the division.

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has come in second with 7,012 (12.17%) votes while Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) came third with 4,913 (8.53%) votes.

The United National Party (UNP) has gained 922 (1.60%) votes.

Our Power of People Party (OPPP) has obtained 288 (0.50%) votes in the Beliatta polling division.


Panadura polling division of the Kalutara District.

The SLPP has received 52,533 votes (61.18%) while the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) is second with 21,416 votes (24.94%).

Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) has polled 5,344 votes (6.22%) to take third place while Kalutara – Independent Group 5 is fourth with 2,780 (3.24%).

The United National Party (UNP) is fifth with 1,967 votes (2.29%) and the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) is sixth with 944 votes (1.10%).


 Colombo District have been released. 

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has obtained the highest number of postal votes in the district with 23,784 votes (70.83%).

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) is second with 5,512 votes (16.42%) and the Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) is third with 2,801 votes (8.34%).

The United National Party (UNP) with 1,062 votes (3.16%) is in fourth place.


Results of postal vote in Polonnaruwa District 

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has led the postal votes of District with 13,627 (76.72%).

In the meantime, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB)  is in the second with 2,518 votes (14.18%).

With 823 votes (4.63%), Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) has come in the third place, while the United National Party (UNP) followed with 42 votes (0.24%).

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has secured the win in this polling division with 6,767 votes (47.61%).

Meanwhile, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has obtained 3,884 votes (27.33%), placing the second.

Illankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK) is in the third with 2,337 votes (16.44%) while the Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) came in the fourth place with 325 (2.29%).


Kalutara polling division of the Kalutara District.

SLPP obtained 52,344 votes (61.48%) to claim the top spot while the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) is second with 18,582 votes (21.82%).

Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) received 5,111 votes (6.09%) to claim third place in the polling division while the Kalutara – Independent Group 01 is fourth with 3,614 votes (4.24%).

The United National Party (UNP) has secured just 2,251 votes (2.64%) and the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) has received 1,915 votes (2.25%).


Results of the postal vote in Badulla District 

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) is has secured the lead with 28,228 (71.05%).

In the meantime, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has placed the second with 6,611 votes (16.64%).

With 3,021 votes (7.60%), the Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) has come in the third place, while the United National Party (UNP) followed with 1,092 votes (2.75%).

Our Power of People Party (OPPP) has come in fifth with 352 (0.89%) at the Badulla postal vote.


 Ratnapura polling division in Ratnapura electoral district.Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has secured the win in this polling division with 63,673 votes (69.77%).

Meanwhile, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has obtained 21,116 votes (23.14%), placing the second.

Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) is in the third with 2,624 votes (2.88%) while the United National Party (UNP) came in the fourth place with 1,967 (2.16%).


Postal voting results of Nuwara Eliya electoral district

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has secured the win in this polling division with 11,751 votes (64.80%).

Meanwhile, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has received 3,682 votes (20.30%), placing the second.

United National Party (UNP) is in the third with 720 votes (3.97%) while the Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) came in the fourth place with 671 votes (3.70%).

Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) ranked fifth, after receiving 362 votes (2%).

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has secured the win in this polling division with 49,991 votes (63.68%).

Meanwhile, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has received 19,005 votes (24.21%), placing the second.

Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) is in the third with 3,328 votes (4.24%) while the United National Party (UNP) came in the fourth place with 2,873 votes (3.66%).

Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) ranked fifth, after receiving 1,671 votes (2.13%).


Tangalle polling division in Hambantota District 

The Rajapaksa-led party has won 71,997 votes marking a percentage of 77.80% while Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) obtained second place with only 9,583 votes (10.36%).

Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) has garnered 8,766 votes (9.47%) from the division.

Coming in the fourth place United National Party (UNP) has gained 953 (1.03%).

Our Power of People Party (OPPP) has secured 451 (0.49%) at the vote.


Maskeliya polling division in Nuwara Eliya electoral district.

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has secured the win in this polling division with a margin of 122,028 votes (51.87%).

Meanwhile, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) followed with 78,222 votes (33.25%), placing the second.

Nuwara Eliya Independent Group 01 (IND01_D06) is in the third with 14,787 votes (6.29%) while the United National Party (UNP) came in the fourth place with 6,356 votes (3.66%).

Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) ranked fifth, after receiving 1,671 votes (2.13%).


Postal voting of Hambantota electoral district

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has secured the win in this polling division with a margin of 14,212 votes (74.90%).

Meanwhile, Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) followed with 2,359 votes (12.43%), placing the second.

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) is in the third with 1,877 votes (9.89%) while the United National Party (UNP) came in the fourth place with 350 votes (1.84%).


 Polonnaruwa division in the Polonnaruwa District 

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has claimed victory in the polling division with 79,724 votes (72.65%).

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) is second with 22,989 votes (28.95%) and the United National Party (UNP) has come third with 2,826 votes (2.58%).

Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) is in fourth place with 2,416 votes (2.28%).

Our Power of People Party (OPPP) has obtained 396 votes (0.36%).

Illankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK) has secured the win with a margin of 7,200 votes (30.71%).

Meanwhile, Thamil Makkal Thesiya Kuttani (TMTK) followed with 4,347 votes (18.54%), placing the second.

Eelam People’s Democratic Party (EPDP) is in the third with 3,291 votes (14.04%) while the Ahila Ilankai Thamil Congress (AITC) came in the fourth place with 3,223 votes (13.75%).

Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) is third with 2,589 votes (7.41%) while the United National Party (UNP) is in fourth place with 1,183 votes (3.39%).

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has secured the win with 22,904 votes (72.85%).

Meanwhile, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) followed with 5,394 votes (17.16%), placing the second.

Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) is in the third with 1,644 votes (5.23%) while the United National Party (UNP) came in the fourth place with 983 votes (3.13%).


Avissawella polling division of Colombo electoral district

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has secured the win in this polling division with 58,477 votes (67.93%).

Meanwhile, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has obtained 20,308 votes (23.59%), placing the second.

Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) is in the third with 3,761 votes (4.37%) while the The United National Party (UNP) came in the fourth place with 1,712 (1.99%).


Borella polling division of the Colombo District

The SJB received 20,450 votes (48.31%) to win the polling division while Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) is second after obtaining 17, 689 votes (41.76%).

Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) is third and the United National Party (UNP) is fourth with 1,931 votes (4.56%) and 1,590 votes (3.54%) respectively.


Kotte polling division of Colombo electoral district

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has secured the win with 29,436 votes (58.51%).

Meanwhile, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) followed with 14,946 votes (29.71%), placing the second.

Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) is in the third with 3,405 votes (6.77%) while the United National Party (UNP) came in the fourth place with 1,563 votes (3.11%).


Dehiwala polling division of Colombo electoral district

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) leads with 18,611 votes (44.92%).

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) followed with 18,244 votes (44.03%).

Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) is in the third with 2,094 votes (5.05%) while the United National Party (UNP), with 1,706 votes (4.12%) came in the fourth place.


Colombo District 

The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has obtained the highest number of votes in the polling division with 64,692 votes (73.39%).

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) is second with 16,688 votes (18.93%) and the United National Party (UNP) is third with 2,978 votes (3.38%).

Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) has received 1,912 votes (2.17%).

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has secured the win with 89,240 votes (70.77%).

Meanwhile, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) followed with 23,687 votes (18.78%), placing the second.

Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) is in the third with 9,160 votes (7.26%) while the United National Party (UNP) came in the fourth place with 2,098votes (1.66%).


Colombo West polling division of the Colombo District

SJB obtained 16,521 votes (64.82%) to claim the top spot while Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) is second with 6,294 votes (24.69%).

United National Party (UNP) received 1,143 votes (4.48%) to claim third place in the polling division while Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) is fourth with 1,074 votes (4.21%).


Mahanuwara District

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has obtained the highest number of postal votes in the district with 35,372 votes (70.57%).

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) is second with 8,511 votes (16.98%) and the Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) is third with 2,935 votes (5.86%).

The United National Party (UNP) with 1,409 votes (2.81%) is in fourth place.


Negombo polling division of the Gampaha District.

The SLPP has received 36,536 votes (52.84%) while the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) is second with 25,023 votes (35.64%).

Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) has polled 3,834 votes (5.46%) to take third place while United National Party (UNP) is fourth with 2,784 (3.97%).

Our Power of People Party (OPPP) obtained 618 (0.88%).

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has secured the win with 41,059 votes (64.90%).

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) followed with 16,775 votes (26.52%), placing the second.

United National Party (UNP) is in the third with 2,676 votes (4.23 %) while the Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) came in the fourth place with 1,230 votes (1.94%).


Matale polling division of the Matale District

SLPP wins the polling division with 33,927 votes (58.43%) while the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) received 18,272 votes (31.47%).

Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) has obtained 1,757 votes (3.03%) and the Our Power of People Party (OPPP) has gained 1,327 votes (2.29%).

The United National Party (UNP) is in fifth place with 1,185 votes (2.04%).


Mannar polling division in Vanni District

Illankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK) has received the highest number of votes with 20,266 (34.55%) while the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) is second with 14,632 votes (24.95%).

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) is third place with 12,050 votes (28.54%).

SLPP has received 180,847 votes (73.66%) to win 04 seats while the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) is second with 47,781 votes (19.46%) and claim a single seat.

Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) comes in third with 6,792 votes (2.77%) and the United National Party (UNP) has managed 6,525 votes (2.66%).

However, they both fail to secure any seats from the district.

Illankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK) has obtained 31,156 votes (52.50%) to take first place in the polling division.

Jaffna-Independent Group 05 has come in second with 13,339 votes (22.48%) and Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) is third with 3,050 votes (5.14%).


Kegalle District

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has secured 35,018 votes (70.27%) to win the polling division while the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) is second with 18,138 votes (20.34%).

Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) has polled 1,929 votes (3.87%) and the United National Party (UNP) has received 1,258 votes (2.52%).


Puttalam polling division in Puttalam District

The Muslim National Alliance (MNA) has won the polling division after receiving 47,383 votes (48.40%).

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) is second with 28,734 votes (29.35%) and the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) is in third with 16,360 votes (16.71%).

United National Party (UNP) has managed to obtain 2,474 votes (2.53%) and ‘Our Power of People Party’ (OPPP) has secured 1,027 votes (1.05%).

SLPP took the top spot with 73,455 votes (70.97%) and the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) is second with 17,481 votes (16.89%).

Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) is third after receiving 6,372 votes (78.97%), ‘Our Power of People Party (OPPP)’ has polled 2,140 votes (2.07%) and the United National Party (UNP) managed 1,681 votes (1.62%).

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has secured the win in this polling division with 90,489 votes (70.27%).

Meanwhile, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has obtained 23,793 votes (18.48%), placing the second.

Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) is in the third with 9,594 votes (7.45%) while the United National Party (UNP) came in the fourth place with 2,679 (2.08%).

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has secured the win with 32,763 votes (27.86%).

Meanwhile, All Ceylon Makkal Congress (ACMC) followed with 21,736 votes (18.48%), placing the second.

Illankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK) is in the third with 15,839 votes (13.47%) while the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) came in the fourth place with 15,103 votes (12.84%).

United Peace Alliance (UPA) is in the third with 27,264 votes (19.75%).

Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) came in the fourth place after receiving 20,791 votes (15.06%).

Securing 13,726 votes (9.94%), the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) was in the fifth place.

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) wins the polling division with 41,031 votes (65.08%) while the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) is second with 16,574 votes (26.29%).

Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) has obtained 3,322 votes (5.27%) and the United National Party (UNP) received 1,302 votes (2.07%).

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has secured the win with 49,742 votes (52.21%).

Meanwhile, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) followed with 36,718 votes (38.54%), placing the second.

Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) is in the third with 4,655 votes (4.89%).

United National Party (UNP) came in the fourth place after receiving 2,091 votes (2.19%).

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has secured the win with 39,172 votes (60.96%).

Meanwhile, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) followed with 17,684 votes (27.52%), placing the second.

Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) is in the third with 3,421 votes (5.32%) while the United National Party (UNP) came in the fourth place with 1,501 votes (2.34%).

Our Power of People Party (OPPP) has obtained 1,045 (1.63%) votes.


Minuwangoda polling division of Gampaha electoral district.

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has secured the win with 65,763 votes (68.07%).

Meanwhile, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) followed with 20,225 votes (20.93%), placing the second.

Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) is in the third with 4,757 votes (4.92%).

Our Power of People Party (OPPP) came in the fourth place after receiving 1,973 votes (2.04%).

Securing 1,925 votes (1.99%), the United National Party (UNP) was in the fifth place.


 Chilaw polling division in Puttalam District

SLPP has secured 46,513 votes (61.68%) to win the polling division while second placed Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) managed 19,444 votes (25.78%).

Muslim National Alliance (MNA) obtained 3,218 votes (4.27%) and the Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) is fourth with 2,664 votes (3.53%).

United National Party (UNP) is fifth with 1,407 votes (1.87%).


Dambulla polling division of Matale electoral district.

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has secured the win with 65,667 votes (70.08%).

Meanwhile, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) followed with 20,344 votes (21.71%), placing the second.

United National Party (UNP) is in the third with 2,783 votes (2.97%).

Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) came in the fourth place after receiving 2.326 votes (2.48%).

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has secured the win with 20,538 votes (46.58%).

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) followed with 18,007 votes (40.84%), placing the second.

Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) is in the third with 2,585 votes (5.89%).

United National Party (UNP) came in the fourth place after receiving 1,869 votes (4.24%).

Securing 199 votes (0.45%), the National People’s Party (NPP) was in the fifth place.


Matale District have been released and the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has secured a comprehensive victory in the district.

SLPP obtained the highest number of votes in the district of 188,779 (65.53%) while the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) came in second with 73,955 votes (25.67%).

Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) received 7,542 votes (2.62%), the United National Party (UNP) managed 6,592 votes (2.29%) and Our Power of People Party (OPPP) – 3,984 votes (1.38%).

 Nuwara Eliya District 

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has secured the victory in the district with 54.47% (230,389) of the marked votes. The party has bagged 05 seats from the district.

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) obtained the second-highest number of votes with 132,008 (31.21%) votes, with 03 seats allocated for them.

Nuwara Eliya Independent Group 1 came in third with 17,107 votes (4.04%) while the United National Party (UNP) gained 12,974 votes (3.07%).

Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) has come in fifth place in the district obtaining 6.227 votes (1.47%).

With 5,043 (1.19%) Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) has ranked sixth in the district.


 Galle District preferential votes of the General Election 2020 have been released by the Election Commission.

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has managed to sweep the victory of the Badulla District in General Election 2020 with 62.06 percent of the votes.

SLPP has claimed 309,538 votes and 06 parliamentary seats from the district.

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has managed to secure the second place with 144,290 votes (28.93%) and 03 seats.

Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) ranked number three in the district with 19,308 (3.87%) and Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) coming in at the fourth place obtained 9,163 (1.84%).

However, neither party managed to secure a parliamentary seat.

Our Power of People Party (OPPP) obtained 5,165 votes (1.04%) from the district.

SLPP obtained the second highest number of votes in the district with 68,681 votes (32.25%) and secured one seat.

The final results of Kegalle electoral district were released by the Election Commission, a short while ago.

The most number of votes was received by the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), according to the final results of the Kegalle District.

Accordingly, SLPP has received 331,573 votes (66.29%) to win 07 seats while the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) secured the second place with 131,317 votes (26.25%) to claim 02 seats.

Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) came in third with 14,033 votes (2.81%) as the United National Party (UNP) managed 12,168 votes (2.43%).

However, they have failed to secure any seats from Kegalle district.


Former President and SLPP candidate Maithripala Sirisena has secured the highest number of preference votes in the District of Polonnaruwa.

He has received a total of 111,137 votes while Roshan Ranasinghe obtained 90,615 votes to claim second place.

The other two members elected from the SLPP include Siripala Gamlath (67,917) and Amarakeerthi Athukorale (45,939).

Kins Nelson of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), who polled 22,392 votes, is the only representative of the party from the district.

Accordingly, SLPP has received 344,458 votes (67.95%) to win 07 seats while the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) placed second with 119,788 votes (23.63%) to claim 02 seats.

Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) came in third with 24,492 votes (4.83%) and the United National Party (UNP) has managed 8,254 votes (1.63%).

However, they both failed to secure any seats from the district.

Anuradhapura-Independent Group 9 received 1,432 votes (0.28%).


The all-island final result of Sri Lanka’s General Election 2020 has been released by the Election Commission.

The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has claimed resounding victory in the parliamentary election after polling a total of 6,853,690 votes, which is 59.09% of the total valid votes.

The SLPP led by Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has secured 128 out of the total 225 seats in the Sri Lankan Parliament.

The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) led by former Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa has obtained the second highest number of votes in the poll.

SJB received a total of 2,771,980 votes (23.90%) and won 47 parliamentary seats.

Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) led by Anura Kumara Dissanayake is the party with the third highest number of votes overall and secured 02 seats in parliament. The JJB polled a total of 445,954 votes (3.84%).

The Illankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK) obtained 327,168 votes (2.82%), and managed to secure 09 parliamentary seats.

Ahila Ilankai Thamil Congress (AITC) received 67,766 votes (0.58%) and won one seat in parliament.

Eelam People’s Democratic Party (EPDP) obtained 61,464 votes (0.53%) and won 02 seats.

Tamil Makkal Viduthalai Pulikal (TMVP), Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), Muslim National Alliance (MNA), Tamil Makkal Thesiya Kuttani (TMTK), All Ceylon Makkal Congress (ACMC), National Congress (NC) and Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) have all won one seat each.

The United National Party (UNP) led by former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe received a total of 249,435 votes (2.15%).

The UNP failed to win a single seat in parliament for the first time in the history of the grand party. However, it has received one National List seat.

The SLPP has received 17 National List seats while the SJB has secured 07 National List seats.

Parties including ITAK, JJB, AITC, UNP and ‘Our Power of People Party (OPPP)’ have received a National List seat each.

The total number of votes polled at the 2020 General Election is 12,343,302 (75.89%) while 744,373 (4.58%) of them were rejected.

Accordingly the total valid votes count is 11,598,929 (71.32%).
