A state of indecision is prevailing in the Northern Province due to the government’s failure to appoint a governor for the province so far, TNA leader Parliamentarian R. Sampanthan said.

He said the enthusiasm shown by the government to appoint governors for other provinces had not been forthcoming in the case of the Northern Province.

There has been a crisis as regards year-end transfers due in the province and several other official matters due to the absence of a governor.

The TNA leader said a group of teachers who are affected by this situation had made representations to him about the matter recently. An injustice has been caused to a large number of teachers who had served in the Northern Province for over six years as they were unable to obtain transfers without the governor’s approval.

Sampanthan said he had reminded the government about this lapse on several occasions and he hoped to make representations about it once again, shortly.
