Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa said that the development of cricket is done according to a plan and it is well executed based on expert advice.
“We have prepared a long-term plan to develop Sri Lanka Cricket. A young team was selected based on this plan. I think we need to give these youngsters a fair time to prove themselves.” he told the Daily News yesterday.
“There was no proper system in place to develop cricket in the past 5-6 years. It is not the case now. We have a proper system in place targeting the future,” he emphasised.
The Sports Minister also said that the development of cricket is done as per advice given by a set of ex-cricketers headed by former Sri Lanka captain Aravinda de Silva.
“We are obliged to implement their recommendations,” the Sports Minister added.
