755 arrested for violating quarantine laws yesterday

Sri Lanka Police says that a total of 755 individuals were arrested within yesterday for violating quarantine regulations such as wearing face masks and maintain social distancing in public places.

A total of 18,055 individuals have been arrested in connection with the same offences since 30th of October 2020, the police spokesman said.

He stated that police mobile patrols, foot patrols and surveillance operations are being conducted across the country and a special operation was conducted with the Western Province yesterday where 4,190 three-wheelers were checked.

Six three-wheelers have been taken into custody along with seven persons for violating quarantine ruled and regulations by moving traveling along roads for no reasons.

They would be produced before the respective magistrate’s courts today, he said.
