Liquor shops opened for limited hours

The Excise Department granted permission for the reopening of selected liquor outlets for a limited number of hours from today with travel restrictions being lifted.

Accordingly,  outlets with Retail Licences (F.L 4), Beer, Ale, Stout & Wine Licence for Retail Sale (F.L 22A), Wholesale Licences (F.L 3) and Licence for Distributing Manufacturers’ Wholesale Arrack/Beer/Foreign liquor (A.M 6) will be allowed to operate.

However, selling liquor in restaurants, hotels, guest houses, cinemas and clubs with licences will not be permitted.

The Excise Department noted that strict compliance to health protocols will be expected from all outlet operators, adding that serious legal action will be taken against those who fail to abide by the revised guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health.
