SLPP Founder Basil’s organising skills needed now – Minister

Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga said Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Founder and former Minister Basil Rajapaksa’s organizing skills are required by the Government.

Economic Revival and Poverty Eradication Presidential Task Force Head Basil Rajapaksa, who left for the United States on May 12 for a personal visit, returned to the country yesterday.

Ranatunga said that former Minister Basil Rajapaksa is an excellent organizer.

The Minister was expressing his views to the media in Gampaha.

“From the time we took over the Government, we received the contribution of former Minister Basil Rajapaksa for victories at all elections. When the Incumbent Prime Minister and former President Mahinda Rajapaksa were defeated in 2015, he accepted the responsibility for that. Generally, although there are many claimants during victory there is no one to accept the responsibility in the face of a defeat. As much as he accepted that responsibility, he organized everything to gain victory again. We are happy that Basil Rajapaksa who was away returned to the country. We need his organizing skills for some of the things that are taking place at present,” he commented.
