Two parliamentarians test positive for COVID-19

Matale District SLPP MP Rohana Dissanayake and Hambantota District Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Dilip Wedaarachchi have tested positive for COVID-19.

In a post published on his official Facebook page, the SJB parliamentarian said he was referred to a rapid antigen test due to a severe headache and was found to be positive for the virus.

Accordingly, MP Wedaarachchi and his family members are currently under quarantine.

In the meantime, the SLPP parliamentarian said he had been self-isolating from August 02 after being identified as a close contact of a COVID-19 patient.

However, a PCR test conducted the following day has confirmed that MP Dissanayake has contracted COVID-19.

The two parliamentarians requested their close contacts to self-isolate.
