Only one person from each household allowed to go out – Army Chief

As per new health guidelines, only one person is allowed to go out from each household for day-to-day needs, says General Shavendra Silva, the Head of National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO).

Speaking further, the Army Commander noted that those who are employed can, however, go to work as per usual.

The Director-General of Health Services, on Wednesday (Aug. 18), issued new restrictions and guidelines in a bid to curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus in the country.

As per the revised measures gyms, spas, children’s parks, swimming pools, and indoor sports halls were closed with immediate effect. In addition to this, musical events, beach parties, and carnivals were also banned.

Meanwhile, public and private sector offices will continue functions with minimum number of staff within the province. Staff residing outside provincial borders can be called to work at the discretion of the head of the institution.

The new restrictions and guidelines are in effect until August 31.
