Sri Lanka records 16 new COVID-related deaths

The Director-General of Health Services has confirmed 20 more coronavirus-related deaths for December 16, increasing the death toll in the country due to the virus pandemic to 14,677.

According to the figures released by the Govt. Information Department, the deaths reported today include 11 males and 05 females.

Three of the patients are between the ages 30-59 years while 13 are in the age group of 60 years and above. – ada derana

772 new cases of coronavirus confirmed today

The Health Ministry says that 772 persons have tested positive for the novel coronavirus within yesterday (15).

This includes two returnees from overseas while the rest are associated with the New Year Covid-19 cluster.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases of the virus reported in the country to 576,966.

Approximately 16,186 patients infected with Covid-19 are persistently undergoing treatment across the island. – ada derana
