PM Ranil convenes urgent meeting of party leaders

PM Ranil Wickremesinghe has convened an urgent meeting of political party leaders to discuss the current situation.

In addition, the Premier has requested Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena to summon the parliament soon.

This comes after thousands of people thronged Colombo earlier today and stormed the President’s House in Colombo Fort after breaking through the police barricades at its entry roads.

They have since occupied the premises of the President’s House and are calling for the immediate resignation of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa. – ada derana
